Patrick McKenny Pretorius APPSA, FSAPP
Patrick is a multi-award winning registered professional photographer with a professional career spanning 37 years and counting. patrickpretoriusPHOTOGRAPHY was established in 1989 and is based in Gauteng, South Africa. Patrick accepts assignments countrywide including Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland and has explored Europe and the USA on numerous occasions in order to photograph his own personal photographic projects.
His love for photography started in the film era whilst studying at university. Within a year he was appointed the university official student photographer, darkroom assistant, Chairman of the local amateur camera club and a part-time photographic salesman for a very large photographic retail group. (Needless to say he soon became a “full-time” photographer & “part-time” student – instead of the other way around.).
With his enthusiasm and knowledge of photography he joined the South African Police Services SAPS where he was employed as a FORENSIC & CRIMESCENE photographer before he joined ISCOR/Arcelor Mittal as an in-house INDUSTRIAL Photographer.
Two years later he ventured into the exciting and rewarding world of PROFESSIONAL COMMISIONED COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY and still enjoys every challenge.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
– Licentiate Member of the SAIP (South African Institute of Photographers)
– Awarded an Associateship of the PPSA (Professional Photographers of Southern Africa)
– Awarded an Fellowship of the SAPP (South African Professional Photographers), the most prestigious award that a photographer can obtain in South Africa.
– Winner of 42 Fuji Professional & Profoto Photographic Awards among numerous other photographic awards in his career.
